AMD cache testing?

I'm getting periodic hangs on my home PC

I suspected memory, so tried memtest to check it and LO !
there is a failure at address 4e0...

I just installed a new DIMM and the error is still there
at the same address :-{}

I suspect it may be the on-board (L1/L2?) cache on the CPU,
but don't know what to do to confirm this..

Any suggestions for how I can test the CPU cache?

It's an AMD Athlon XP2400+ plugged into and MSI MS6712 mobo.

I've mailed the AMD tech support who thought about it for a
week, then suggested I download a utility called cpuinfo.exe
which (surprise!) told me I had an XP2400+ with 128K of L1
cache and 256K of L2... I've replied asking for more help,
but no reply so far.

TIA,

Simon

Send a message via AIM to Alienware_Dude
Disable the cache and run MemTest again.
