CPU cooling

Hey,
I got a new heatsink recently, thermaltake spark 7+, and its doing a real good job. I went from 58 celcius at full load to about 50 at full load.

When i put on my heatsink i used the adhesive that came with the thermaltake. WOuld my temps still drop alot or just a little, liek 2-3 degrees, if i were to switch to artic silver.

Im using a p4 2.4 btw.

if your running 50 deg cecus with a p4 2.4 , then you gor something bad wrong, that cpu should be running at about 30 deg celc.

Bailey, I think you meant 30C at idle. His temps are 50 at full load (which I think is normal, mine is 55C at full load).

You've also overclocked yours to 3.1 GHz.

So 30C is the normal? I thought that was low and the average temps at full load is around 40-45C. If that's the case, I think I'll buy a better HSF.

50'C under a "full" load is fine, different cpu's with different stepping will differ on the temp and for the most part OCing a P4 by way of upping the FSB *should not* increase temps.

My P4 2.4C running @ full load is at 38'C while idle it's @ 29"C. I have 2 P4 2.4B's that differ on the temps, one is running at 45'C and the other is @ 40'C under a full load, both in identical cases and using the same case fan config. BTW all three are in the same room.
