For 80 wire UltraATA IDE cables, the blue connector goes to the motherboard, the black to your main hard drive and the grey goes to the slave drive (if you're running two drives on the primary IDE channel). Hard drive should be jumpered to CS (cable select) and connected to the black connector.
For the optical drives (CD, DVD, etc...), if you're using a 80 wire UltraATA IDE cable, set the jumper to CS as in the above instructions. But if you're using a 40 wire ATA33 IDE cable, set the combo drive to master...position on IDE cable doesn't matter. So basically...80 wire IDE cable - use CS jumper setting. 40 wire IDE cable - use master or slave jumper setting. Cricket

It's had a few parts replaced here and there (1 stick of RAM, 1 video card, 1 modem and 2 hard drives have died in it over the years). The computer looks like this inside, but I've removed the front fan since I took this picture. The case itself isn't modified, just a plain beige box. Cricket

Is there a difference in the heads? I have this one ide cable where the head is twice as long as my normal ides. I count 39 holes on my normal ides, is there a difference with the number of wholes?

Ive found that if you goto SVC.com they have REALLLLLLY cheap prices on cosmetic things for your computer. Its worth the money to get your cosmetic things from here rather than newegg.com. Keep in mind svc's shipping lags like 2 days behind neweggs.

any 80 mm fan will fit in any 80 mm fan slot. They are all essentially the same.

Heres a good fan kevin. Its the first one at this link. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...%2CBLUE%2CLEDs
The Thermaltake Xaser cases come with a bunch of fans. They are extremely loud if you hook them all up. I recommend taking out the included fans, all of them and leaving in a couple lighted fans. This will give you much less noise and lights. Rounded cables are here: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...round%2Ccables Depending on your drive configuration, get the appropriate cables. For example, if you have 2 optical drives, one floppy and one hdd: Get a single device floppy, a singel device hdd and a dual device for the opticals. Lengthwise you could probably use a short one for the hdd and floppy and a longer one for opticals. Hope that helps

Everyone I meet online is from either Ocean or one of the counties right next to bergen. It's like the rest of the counties don't have electricity.

When you first get your parts, assemble the motherboard, CPU, heatsink/fan, video card, RAM, PC case speaker (if necessary), power supply and monitor out of the case on a non-conductive surface and power it up to see if the system will POST (Power On Self Test). Yes, if everything is working right you'll see a some words describing the system POSTing on the monitor. All device drivers are installed after the OS is installed.

AS long as you dont break anything you can fix it by comign here. the only problems you should encounter, is that its really surprising how much force it takes to put the HS on the proc, the ram is also a bit hard but the HS install makes you sweat.
