Help-hard drive has extra partition

Have problem unusual..have 40g WD hard drive 2mb, P4 l.6, P4S533 Asus board. somehow my hard drive with 5 partions added a 6th. I was using C for o/s, D for applications, E, F, G for other stuff. Now i show D partion with 0 mb. D< E< F< G < H. All my records have been moved down one letter. when booting up, my o/s searches for D and of course finds nothing so unable to boot. Have used fdisk to try to correct. it shows c as active but in other partitions shows only E,F,G,H and does not show D. How can i get rid of the D partition added to the HD? hope i explained problem. cannot get to boot up even in safe mode so can only use dos prompt. by the way am using 98SE o/s on this machine.

Go with partition magic, it's not a waste of money, A: it'll fix your problem in a Gif, and B: Partition is always a handy-dandy tool to have lying around.
Jeers!
