Never heard of it, although you are now seeing drive manufactures like Maxtor and Western Digital selling so called white lable drives that have a very short dealer warranty.
With Maxtor they have a white lable that say, "Generic." WIth WD drives they can have virtually anything on them. Most of the dealers will list who makes the drive. I have used a lot of White Label Maxtors and have had no problems. The last ones I used were 60Gig 7200 RPM drives that cast like $49.00 each. |
