I think you're gonna need a SCSI controller card too. I don't know of any Socket A motherboards that have built in SCSI controllers.

A good PCI modem is the USR 2977.

Cheap but functional..........

Asus A7N266VM, trade or sell off the SCSI drive, Soundblaster, Radeon, modem, and NIC - and get more ram, a USR 2977 modem, and an IDE hard drive. This motherboard has onboard GF2 MX graphics, GOOD sound, and nic. 128mb ram is not enough, the onboard video will use 32mb of system ram.

The hard drive you have listed in the specs is SCSI, and to use a SCSI hard drive, you need a SCSI controller card. SCSI is overkill for a cheap functional computer, they are made for server and high end workstation use. IDE is the "traditional" hard drive that most people use.

Yep.

You can disable them in the BIOS and upgrade them with better cards if you want.

what is nic?
Network Interface Card, or a network card.

Used almost the same board (A7N266) in my build, no problems.
Good Luck
