Mouse Problem
Hey guys. My friend recently asked me to fix his computer, and to be honest, I've gotten frustrated. Apparently, every once in a while, the mouse goes crazy. It moves around really quickly, it resizes windows, pushes the start button, etc. I've scanned the computer for viruses, I've updated the mouse driver (even though it's a generic mouse) I've checked to make sure that there are no conflicting devices, and when I go to the system properties, and the properties of the mouse, it says that the "device is working properly." Also, once in a while, when the machine first boots, it says that it cannot find a ps2 mouse connected to the computer when in reality, it's in the slot. (I've made sure that the ps2 connection is snuggly in its place so that can't be it.) Right now, I've thinking that the ps2 connection on the mobo might be breaking down or something? What do you guys think? Many thanks for any help you guys can give.
P.S. It's a ps2 mouse, and it's running on win98. |

I would attempt trying a mouse you know works to make sure it is not the mouse that has the problem.

If it does it only when it's on line, it's got a Trojan.
Scan it with The Cleaner from www.moosoft.com |

Oh my goodness...
Yes, it was the mouse. I tried replacing their mouse with another one and it worked fine. I can't believe I went through all that and missed the most obvious thing. Haha. Well, thanks for your help.
