Laptop repeated 0 problem

A strange thing seems to have happened to my mothers laptop. It being mymothers means it is top priority to sort out and naturally has been deligated to my job.

The problem is that it keeps on putting random "0"s in places when just generally using the laptop. At fist i though a lose or stuck key but no amount of tapping lightly seems to make it do it on purpose. Next i thought "MOUSE!" iv tried three different drivers now and all do it. I'm a bit stuck for what to try next now though so i'v turned to the trusty forum.

Any ideas anyone? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Send a message via AIM to njskatchmo
try hooking up a different keyboard, and disabling the built in one (can you even do that?)
