Alright here are some specs for the 2500+ Barton system:

AMD 2500+ System

AMD ATHLON XP 2500+ "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- RETAIL - $91.00

Asus Motherboard for AMD Athlon XP/Duron Processors, Model# A7N8X Deluxe Retail - $116.99

MAXTOR 80GB 7200RPM SATA HARD DRIVE MODEL # 6Y080M0 - OEM - $90.00

CORSAIR 512MB PC3200 VALUE SELECT. VS512MB400 DDR RAM – OEM - $90.15

Sapphire Atlantis ATI RADEON 9600 PRO ULTIMATE 128MB 8X AGP DVI/TV BOX - $188.00

Aspire (Turbo Case) X-Dreamer Silver ATX Mid-Tower Case w/ Window and 350W Power Supply, Model ATXB3KLW-AL/350W - $55.00

Lite On 52x32x52 Black Color CDRW Drive LTR-52327S – OEM -$34.99

US Robotics 2977 56K V.90 Internal PCI Modem Data/Fax Only (No Voice) - OEM $38.00

MITSUMI D359M3 FDD 1.44MB 3.5INCH – OEM - $6.99

Total: $711.12 (without shipping)

Shipping: $20.00

Grand Total: $731.12

Alright, this grand total came out pretty cheap, looks as if though I have some money to waste (not really waste...but u know). So, let me know what I should upgrade, or make better of those parts. Also, if someone could check through all that and make sure it is all good (in every possible way: price, performance, reliability, warrentys, compatability, OC'ing options...etc), and also the prices, and make sure it all adds up to what I got (just for another answer to comfirm). I live in Michigan...(in case u wanted to figure out the shipping also....).

Oh, and also does that mobo come with on-board sound? If so, I am gettin rid of the sound card, meaning I have more money to spend.

Well, I maybe plan to OC later on. But right now no, I don't know how to OC either. So should I still go with the Corsair or....? Also, if the mobo has the best on-board sound, then I would cancel the sound card.

I dont know threw experience jaybee but a lot of people said the onboard sound is really good.
But if you arn't on a super duber tight budget and you plan to o/c later corair is the way to go but if 20 dollers is a lot for your kingston is a better buy and has the same stuff but when it comes to o/cing dont try it unless you have higher levels of ram which would make kingston still under clock its self

EDITED: I changed the mobo to the "Deluxe"..is that a good change, and if everything still compatible? I also dropped the sound card as the mobo has good on board sound. Good changes?

And also, is that case with the 350w Power Supply that I have speced good for what I have (meaning is it enough to power the stuff I have speced)?

Better question....: Is EVERYTHING I have there compatible with eachother, will everything work, and is everything worth the buy? Serious well thought answers ONLY please..

Ps- a lot of people say they have problems installing the o/s but it is one of the easiest boards to install the o/s on and they blame their mistakes on the board
Great board

Yes, that motherboard has on-board sound that is actually pretty good. Try it first and if you feel you want something more, get the SB Audigy.

The Deluxe just has a few more features on it...the basic performance will be the same as the non-Deluxe. If you need those features, go with the Deluxe.

350 watts is generally more than enough power for most systems, but it's the quality of the power supply that's more important. Do you know what brand that power supply is?

Yes, those parts will work together fine. The USR 2976 is a very good PCI modem...do you need the voice feature? If not, get the 2977. And find out what brand that power supply is.

Nice specs by the way, will build into a very nice gamer.

I have the a7n8x-x mobo and my neighbor has the deluxe. They're both great boards, the deluxe is just a little better (more usb ports etc.) My onboard sound is rock solid, though I've had it skip a few times in battlefield 1942--but I can count on one hand the number of times its done that and it only seems to be with that specific game. Two thumbs up to this board, it's one of the best.

Forgot to mention I do not have a sound card, I use the onboard sound exclusively.

EDITED: I changed the US modem to the one that Cricket specified (without voice). I also checked up on the power supply brand...I couldn't find it. Is that Aspire X-Dreamer case that I have specified a good case, or would someone else recommend something better for about the same price? (I want a side window, and silver, or black.)

The PSU that comes witht the X Dreamer Cases are Tubo Links (Rebadged Deers)...

I'd reccomend swapping it for an Enlight, Antec, Enermax, Sparkle, or Aopen PSU. The ones that come with the case your purchasing come from a manufacturer who make PSU's that tend to die out prematurely, take a part out with them when they die, and not give the most power as thier supposed to...

The case is great (Depends on your taste, but quality (other than the PSU) and looks wise it a great case)....

If you really like that case you should get it, remove the low quality power supply and install a good quality one. You can get good Fortron Source 350 watt PSU's for $36 at Newegg...it's worlds better than a TurboLink PSU.

The second one you listed comes with a power supply; but I've never heard of the brand (PowerUP). The first comes with an Enermax PSU...

Get the CS-3051L-B3A since it comes with an Enermax power supply. The other case comes with a PowerUp which is basically a cheap generic PSU.

You meant the "CS-5281S" right Cricket? Seeing that the CS-3051L has a PowerUp PSU, and the CS-5281S has a Enermax PSU...

Actually I don't know what to do about the case. Should I just buy one with a crappy PSU, and then buy a PSU, and install it myself? Or should I get a case equipt with a PSU (if so, which one..?).

Get a Antec case. They all come with Antec power supplies.

Or try to find a case you like that comes with no power supply and buy a good power supply separately.
