Best Heatsinks for Overclocking

I've been looking around for a new heatsink and I can't decide. I'm looking for one that isn't extremely loud, but a good overclocker. Please help.

The Thermaltake Silent Boost is a great on for that.

What kind of processor do you have?

In that case, the Silent Boost would be a good choice.

Yeah, I looked at that, but somewhere I saw a review that said it was "definitely not for overclocking". I was kinda confused by this, because all the tests I looked at, it got pretty good temp readings. I was also looking at the Coolermaster Aero 7+ and the Coolermaster Jet 7.

The Jet is not for overclocking. The jet has an excellent visual design, but the airflow on it is not very good for an oc'ing cooler.

The stock Intel heatsink is about as good as they get. You can easily overclock a P4 quite a bit with it.

I realize that but that doesn't let me do any modding so I will ammend my question to which one is the best for a p4 and modding

You could get the Alpha PAL8942T, and stick an LED fan on top of it. Any 80mm case fan would fit that heatsink.

Also look at the Vantec AeroFlow. Its a nice looking HSF combo, and a lot of people love it.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you wanted something flashy...I've always been a function before looks kind of guy. Take a look at these heatsinks for the P4. Don't know if you'll like any of these since they're more functional than pretty.

The Zalman's claim to fame is quiet operation. That usually doesn't go hand-in-hand with good overclocking performance.

Next to water cooling I would get a SLK-800 or a SLK-900 . If you have a fan controller or don't care about the noise, pair it up with a Vantec Tornado. My CPU temp is at 41c right now and 37c in the morning. Another plus is that you can use it on both Intel and AMD boards.
