Angry Fire Really Low Sound from PC!! HELP pls.

Hi I am running win98 OS. I have sound coming from my PC but can hardly hear it! Sound card is: AD1816 3D
PII 300mhz on an ASUS m/b P2L97-S; 392mb SDRAM.

I have uninstalled the Sound card and re-installed it, removed the drivers and re-installed them. All with out any change.

The only s/w I cannot hear anything from is Windows media player.

UPDATE:

Okay, I have now re-installed the win Media player, and for some reason, I now have sound on my PC. BUT still NO sound from Windows Media player 7.1 at all! (I have 7.1 for win 98)

ANY Suggestions please?

Make sure your volume is up and/or not muted in your windows media player. Is 7.1 the latest version of Media Player? check to see if there is a newer version and intall that one.

Updated question

I checked all that stuff.. vol. etc. and yes 7.1 is the most recent that will run on my win 98. Apparently vers 9.0 runs w/ win98SE.

Have you gone to your multimedia device under control panel?
Check and see if the box is checked to show sound control on taskbar. if it isn't checked, check it and then reboot your system. that should do it for you. Thorlo6
