CPU cooler for chipset
Does anyone think it is a realistic idea to use an old AMD socket A CPU heatsink/fan combo I have sitting around with some heat transfer epoxy to replace the passive heat sink on my Nvidia chipset on my FIC AU13 motherboard? Is it worth the effort if I am not doing any major overclocking at this time. I would definitely appreciate any advice.

As long as the heatsink won't hit or interfere with any other part of the motherboard, why not? I've glued old CPU hitsinks to the northbridge chip as well as video card processors before. It may not be necessary, but it won't hurt anything and it'll give you something to do.

Trying to get the orginal heatsink off could be tricky(as in breaking something). You could use just the fan and mountit to the orginal heatsink.
And welcome to PCmech. |

To take the heatsink off the video cards that are held not held by the push pins, take a hair dryer and heat the bottom of the heatsink so the stuff holding it will let go then it should come off easily. I assume this method will also work for chipsets.
