Really Long ATA Cables

Hi,

What I want to do is have a cable run from a laptop size dvd-rom drive in my cars dashboard (VW Golf) to under the passenger seat.

I know that you can get 90cm rounded ATA Cables, but these arent long enough. Are there any longer cables or female-to-female connectors to connect 2 cables? And what about power cables?

Whats the longest cable recommended in the ATA-66 specification? Would S-ATA be a better option with a parallell to serial adaptor on the dvd drive?

Perhaps a slimline USB Drive could work, but a full 5.25" drive is out of the equation.

Any Ideas at all would be greatly apreciated.

36 inches is the max allowed in the ATA specification.
