CD-RW problem
i have a problem with my CD-RW. my problem is that when i tried to burn an audio cd it would say medium speed error even though i have the right kind of CD-Rs my CD-RW speed is 48x12x48 so i lower the burning speed and even though its at the lowest it still won't work but even if it does i still can't listen to it. i use nero

Sorry to hear that, easy enough to pinpoint though in theory. Try one of your CDRs in somebody else's CDRW drive
Either that or try a different burning program, are you using the latest version from www.nero.com? Thanks, Jim

Is DMA enabled for both the hard drive and the CD-RW?
What are the system specs and which OS are you using? How are the drives configured? Is the CD-RW on the same IDE channel as the hard drive? Or is it on the secondary IDE channel? If you're using WinXP, do you have the WinXP burning software enabled for the CD-RW? Cricket

Go to Device Manager and open the IDE controllers. Right click on the Primary or Secondary IDE controllers and choose properties and the click on the Advanced tab. The boxes will show you if DMA is enabled or not for each device. Quote:

You need to enable DMA for the secondary master (your CD-RW drive).

And the burn proof feature of most CD-RW's require that DMA be enabled in order for it to work properly. Quote:

It's best to enable DMA for all hard drives and optical drives - the only IDE devices that don't like it are Zip drives.

Have you tried the burner in another computer yet? If it doesn't work there, the CD-RW is faulty.
