Temp limits

What is a high temp? Where do you draw the line between TOO much hardware causing temp problems and NOT enough hardware at almost freezing temps?

.... Is ambient temp enough of a gague to determine this? I mean if my CPU is running at 100degrees (example only) and the temp for teh ambient box level is 80degrees then its not going to give me an accurate assesment of the box temp

So.... what im asking is what is a good temp, and where do you draw the line?

60 Degrees Celcius and above is starting to get in the too warm zone for CPU Temprature....

What are your system specs?

The amount of components in your computer isn't a big issue if your case cooling is set up correctly.

You want to keep your CPU temp below 65 C under full load if possible.

General rule of thumb is that if your system is stable (no corrupt files, no random restarts, no smoke out of the case, etc.), then you're temps are fine.

I've set my mobo to shut down if CPU temp reaches 70C. This may be low as that is only 158F.

Sounds safe but i can imagine it now...

Your playing star wars galaxies, youve been training to become a Jedi for 6 months (they say its hard to achieve right?) and your last notch is to complete a mission to escort a group of nobles through a dangerous part of the sector..

Your CPU decides to have a party, shuts down and when you franticaly get back in you are staring at your lifeless corpse and floating around in midspace, 2 hours later when you get brought back to the living and loose a mountain of exp... you get an email from "Yoda"

Ok, i havent yet played Galaxies but based on my experiences in UO and EQ i wouldnt want my PC ever shutting down during an important exercise

Good Rule of Thumb

when my comp is just turned on, the CPU is 107F. It does not go up very much after a few hours of use. I set my mobo to turn off the comp is the heatsink fan stops working or if the CPU temp is above 70C.
