cpu temp vs cpu diode temp...
i have my 2500+ barton overclocked to 3200+. i used some arctic silver ceramique and i'm using a zalman 3100+. my idle cpu temp is about 39c and 42c at full load. i've noticed that these new processors and mobos monitor the cpu diode temp as well. my diode temp is about 48c idle and 54c at load. is this normal? most people judge their temp by the cpu rather than the diode right?

I think the diode is within the CPU core itself and is giving you a true CPU core temp. The other temperature reading may be coming from a sensor below the CPU, in the socket.
As long as your computer is running stable, everything is fine...don't worry.  Cricket

Running the same specs on mine, temps are about the same,all is well.
The core temp is actual inner core reading, if your motherboard supports shutting down system,it relies on those readings to do it,make sure you set it to a low threshold,I set mine to 75C for shutdown and 65c for warning. |
