Question Older Toshiba Notebook

I came across an older Toshiba Notebook (2500 CDS), and I was looking to upgrade the memory, on the Toshiba Canada website it says that max it can handle is 96MB, but when doing a RAM search on some sites the max according to them (Crucial) is 160MB.

My question is: Which one is correct? I am assuming that the one from toshiba. I did come across another website that sells the same toshiba notebook and they also mention the max is 160MB
here is that site

The system currently has Win 98SE, but I am will be upgrading it to win 2000 (depending on the RAM), right now it has 96MB.

Any ideas why the conflict in information?

Thanks!

OK.. this is a funny one and I have run across it myself at work... It MIGHT go to 160MB and it might not... it's a crap shoot... on some systems, it upgrades no prob, on others, it gets fussy with lockups, reboots, etc. So if you try to go to 160MB, make sure you can return the RAM in case it doesn't work.
