My mobo has the onboard RAID module for connecting 2 SATA HD directly to it. How would I go about connecting 4 HD so I can config a RAID 0+1. Will I parallel connect 2 SATA HD to one I/O on the RAID module or do I utilze the SATA I/O connection on the mobo??? My mobo manuel is not very clear to me. Im a newbe, what do you expect

What is your motherboard model? Chances are that you only have SATA RAID, not IDE RAID. And if you only have 2 SATA controllers, then you would only be able to use RAID on the two drives on the SATA controllers.

I'm not exactly sure of the differences between his MB Asus P4C800-E Deluxe and My P4C800 Deluxe. But, mine will handle up to 10 drives (HDs & Optical). It has 4 SATA plugins and 6 IDE (PATA). Its setup like this:
2 SATA non-RAID (1 drive each) 2 SATA RAID (2 Plugs) Primary IDE 1&2 (2 drives each=4 total) IDE RAID (1 plugin=2 HDs) All are separate "Plugins". I'm trying to hook up an SATA now, and thing are not going well. LOL |

If there is only 2 SATA on RAID then that means I can not connect 4 SATA HD and config a RAID 0+1, correct?

Multi-RAID for ATA133 & Serial ATA
The P4C800-E Deluxe offers the most complete RAID solution. A Promise SATA controller offers RAID 0, 1 and 10 functions with Max. 2 UltraATA 133 ports and 2 SATA HD ports, enabling users to build a RAID array with any 2, 3 or 4 of the ports. With unique multi-RAID function, RAID 0 and RAID 1 array can co-exist. |

So does that mean I can only have 2 HD connected via SATA for the RAID 0 and then another 2 HD connected IDE and set those up RAID 1? Im not sure I know what you mean. If this is correct, then only the SATA HD will communicate at 155MB/S but the other 2 HD will be at 133MB/S. Is that correct?

I'm not sure WHAT that all means - it sounds pretty confusing to me.
