looking for a few good fans

i basicaly want to get my computer as cool as posible. well within my means at least. so ill be doing it with fans. any suggestions on good CPU cooling and good case cooling?
also wondering how this heatsink holds up- CpuMate DA34HM2 D-Heatpipe AMD-- or Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12
dont know if its just rediculous or if it works! lol im on a fairly tight budget so nothing too extravigant, but please do post about your top choices!

this is nice, dont think i can afford it though- Swiftech MCX462-V
good quality, good price? Volcano 7+ $22

A really good heatsink for Athlon's is the Speeze FalconRock.

As far as case fans go, look at Sunon, NMB, TopMotor, YS Tech...just about any ball bearing fan will do. There are also the high speed, high volume fans...but there are extremely noisy...use at your own risk.

Why do you want to cool down your computer as much as possible for? If your system is running stable, I wouldn't worry about it. A cooler computer won't perform faster than the same one running a little warmer.

mostly becouse i still use a stock hsf from amd and i oced a little (166mhz fsb-180mhz fsb) and my computer is about 50c with next to no load. it gets a little hot in my house too sometimes so i need something to push the air around and cool it off. plus i was looking at sunan fans and they are not that expensive and ive heard they are really good, and i can hold 5 of them in my case. i already have 4 fans but they are the antec ones that i got with the case and i have one from coolermaster. the antec ones are not too great so i want to swap them out. i want to get my temps down on my cpu so i can go to 200mhz fsb with out it being hotter than i would like it.

you have locked multi? what vcore are you at?

I think you should ask yourself this one :
Do I want to keep my cpu under 50 at full load running something like 1.85vcore @ stock multi X 200?
If your answer is yes... then you'll need a really good hs and a fan that blows at least 80cfm.
I'd recommend not trying to use pelts since... well it's something you need experience to use... so the swifty can wait...
I'd recommend a thermalright slk-9xx, if used with a good fan it will cool the cpu with really nice results.

yea i was looking at those sakeo. i gotta check my board to see if i can mount the sp-97. if not which one is the best under that model? ive actualy been running it at stock vcore@180 fsb and the only problem im having is that its too hot. i uped the multiplyer but the temps were going higher then raising the fsb so i left that at the default which i beleive is 11. i can go all the way up to 21 in bios but im not sure how far the cpu will let me go. i havent unlocked the prossesor at all so its still stock. any insight on how high the multi will go with out modding the chip? oh and what is pelts??

what about a: Swiftech MCX462-V Heatsink

if you are looking for case fans the vantec tornados are GREAT but they are really loud they are best if used with a fan controller but if you dont want to use a controler i have had really great luck with my vantec stealths

I would concentrate on getting a better heatsink first and then worry about the case fans later.

The Antecs may not be that great, but they do move a decent amount of air and that's the main thing. They're sleeve bearing fans so they'll wear out soon enough, when they do, get better ball bearing fans.

You want to make sure the case cooling is set up correctly. You want more exhaust than intake (or no intake fans at all). Install as many exhaust fans on the back of the case as you can, remove any front intake fans and remove the holders. Since you'll only have exhaust fans blowing out, cool air will naturally be drawn in through the front of the case and the flow will be smoother. Sometimes, when you install front case fans, you disrupt the air flows through the case.

pelts = thermoelectric "things" used to remove heat from something.
that swifty is a pelt cooler. (if I remember right)
pelts are also named tec modules.

I was looking at this one, as i dont have the mounts for the SLK-947-U, but this one is not much different in the performance tests that i have seen.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thal.html -$26.95 for heatsink +$13.50for Delta 80 CFM fan+ free arctic alumina.. shipping starts at $4.35. should i get a different fan? i dont really care about the noise too much, but i dont want it to sound like a vacum cleaner either!

how about a vantec 80mm 84cfm $13? i dont know where i saw that delta, the one on the site is only 68cfm

any other suggestions? im probably not gunna get it for a couple weeks so if there is something better let me know.
has anyone delt with this site for there hardwear? i dont want to get burned.

You may want to look at this heatsink, that's the one I'm using

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thsl2.html

I have a variable speed fan hooked up to it,in that way I can keep it quiet when I want to or crank it up.

thanx alfie. i was gunna go with the ALX-800 but it came in second to the slk-900a on a systemcooling.com test. and the 900a is only 5 bucks more couse its on sale so i think i will get it. oh and the temp difference was only by 1c but every little bit counts!
what fan do you guys think i should get for the HS? i was thinking of a tornado couse i dont really mind the noise but if there is something that pushes at least close to as much air that they do let me know.

The Tornado and Delta fans are hellishly loud. Just get a 92mm fan that moves a decent amount of air and you be fine.

This YSTech 92mm fan moves 63cfm at 39 dBA which are pretty decent numbers.

what are your thoughts on prossesor shims? are they really useful?

Avoid shims.
Basically all good heatsinks do their job,it's just a matter of loyalties and personal taste.
After trying a few,I've discovered the core temp to remain about the same, the varience in temps appear in outer core.
The varience between the Speeze heatsink and Thermalright's heatsink is 4-8c,both keep the cpu within safe operating temps,so it's really up to the user.
The biggest contributor to a cool computer is room temperature or temp of air entering computer.
If we see that a computer's temp runs about 10c above room temperature and we were able to lower the temperature of air entering computer then a large varience would take place.
You could hook the computer up in a walk in freezer in this way you would never have to worry about the computer overheating

I agree with Alfie...don't use them, they've been known to shift around when you're installing the heatsink and end up crushing the CPU die...or they'll be machined wrong and the heatsink won't even make contact with the CPU die and the CPU will fry.
