My K6 machine boots faster than my good one!

I have two computers. One is an AMD K6 500 MHz and the other is an AMD Athlon XP 1800+. My question is this, why does the K6 machine boot up in half the time that the 1800 machine boots up? It has been like this for months. On the 1800 machine it gets to the XP logon screen almost instantly. It's when I click on my account that it takes 3 to 4 minutes to be fully functional. The K6 machine will be fully functional in 20-30 seconds from the time I hit the power switch. The 1800 machine is slow even on clean boot. There are no strange programs trying to start up. There is no spyware either. The only different startup program on the 1800 is Window Blinds which doesn't make any differenc wether it's enabled or not. It's almost like Windows explorer is hanging on startup on the 1800 machine. Can anyone help me out?

Here are the specs of each machine:

1800 Machine:

ASUS A7V333 Mother Board
AMD Athlon XP 1.8ghz CPU
512mb 333mhz DDR RAM
60 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
6GB 5200 RPM Hard Drive
GeForce 4 ti 4800se 128mb Graphics Card
Plextor 24/10/40x CDRW
Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Home Edition
Cable Modem
C-Media onboard sound
Logitech Z-640 Speakers

K6 Machine:

Epox EP-MVP3C Mother Board
AMD K-6 500MHz CPU
20 GB Hard Drive
52x CD-ROM
Cable Modem
GeForce 2 MX 440 W/64mb
256mb SDRAM
Windows XP Home
Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse
Arcus 17in Monitor
Sound Blaster PCI Sound Card

I am having the same problem. My AMD 2500+ with my ASUS A7N8X deluxe. It start up quickly but once I see the wallpaper it takes at least 20-30 seconds to load all the icons. Its weird since it only started happening after i went into MSCONFIG. I scanned for viruses and Spyware/Adware and it came up clean. i think what I am going to have to do next is reinstall Windows XP Pro and reformatt my hard drive to see if taht solves my problem.

youre probably booting up more programs when you start up than on the k6. plus boot time is mostly based on the mobo. Check out what programs start up with your computer. My computer has like 2 programs that boot up with my computer. It takes less than 30 seconds to boot.

As I already said. They both boot up with the exact same programs except the 1800 machine has Window Blinds but it doesn't make any difference wether it is anabled or not. Also, clean boot does not help.

I wonder if you have not answered your own question, since the 1800 has WindowsBlinds installed on it. This means that in addition to normal boot up items the 1800 machine must also initialize addition icons, screen configurations, and fonts. All of these add time to the boot-up process since these must load and then go thru the process of starting and replacing the default start-up desktop.
Also you may want to download and install XP Anti-Spy from the link below which will shutdown a bunch of the garbage services on XP.

Thanks for the link. As I said, it doesn't matter wether Window Blinds starts up or not. It was doing this before I ever installed Window Blinds. I don't know why I even mentioned it.

It shouldn't be. It plays games horribly however they never crash. My 1800 machine is much less stable than my K6. When I play games on my 1800 machine they crash randomly all the time.
