Boom Sony Vaio Monitor (BIOS) HELLLLPPPP!!

Any Help Appreciated!!!

After using my reconfiguration disks, to reconfig back to factory, (after having used up most of my 80 G's... )

I went to Win Update site and got ALL the Windows XP updates then to Sony Support and got MOST Sony updates for my specific model... Unfortunately, DURING the BIOS update, I was unavoidably called away from my keyboard, therefore, I'm REALLY screwed!!

I am aware of the Sony update, RE: "Something about coming out of sleep mode" (lol..don't feel like looking it up at the moment!)

My Monitor doesn't work... my keyboard occasionally lights up... I have tried connecting other monitors, keyboards AND mice... they, respectively, work on other PC's but not on mine... MY monitor is NOT dead...it displays: "Monitor is in Power Save Mode". Too, it, when the 'menu' button is pushed, displays a totally white screen.

Please help!! If I could get the monitor working... I could probably fix the other glitches!!

Using the reconfig disks again...and again...and again, which I, like a fool, have TRIED to do, doesn't help without a monitor!!

Thanks TREMENDOUSLY in advance!

Sarah

BTW:

Sony Vaio RX-650

Monitor Model: CPD-G220R
Serial #: 8095848
Manufactured: 2001-47
Ver. 1.000 7227.5H

PS: Probably have/or HAD the SP2 since the below sig.

i am assuming you are referring to service pack 2, which, as far as i know has not been released yet. can you get into bios at all, or is the screen blank as soon as you boot it up? did you put any ram in since the upgrade, as this could cause incompatibility issues, making your computer not boot up?

edit: if you haven't already, i would try clearing the cmos to set the bios back to default

Hi Hobey,

RE: SP2...lol..guess I was thinking about Win98 on my laptop. EEK! No new RAM... no new anything, save the reconfig... I'm thinking updates...particularly BIOS.. ??? I have tried another monitor, to no avail.

The monitor, (mine), HAS to be working though, as it, when booted up, says: "Monitor is in Power Save Mode". Also, when the menu button on the monitor itself is pressed, it turns totally blank WHITE instead of black...

Thanks for replying,
Sarah

PS: What is CMOS?? 'cringe'
[And, BTW, LOVE your sig...mind if I adopt it?]

CMOS: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/C/CMOS.html

since i have never actually reset my bios, i am going to let a more experienced person explain that to you, but it involves the battery on your mobo that looks like the battery from a watch. i don't want to tell you something that is incorrect, as i have no experience with resetting the bios. sorry

craig

and yes, you may use the sig

Craig,

Oh, my heavens @ I DO know what a mobo even IS!!! But how to get to it, and that I would even TRY is another story!!! I'm not a PCMECH...I just play one on...[TV]...the msg board!

Do you know of another board that I might re-post to, that may know more about this situation? Maybe I'm posting to the wrong board [subject]?

I went to the Sony support site, being the optimist that I am, and tried to get some help for your problem from their. I couldn't get past the info page. I filled in all your info but when I tried to send it to them the page would freeze.
