Question resetting bios

i have a question about resetting the bios. can someone explain to me: is it better to do it using the jumpers, or just plain remove the battery. also, this just resets the bios back to default, correct? so, if i updated bios and my computer stopped working, resetting the bios sets it back to the default, correct? thanks

Back up your Bios before you update it.

To reset the bios just either use the clear jumpers or take the cmos battery out for a while. Just follow the instructions to update your bios. Backing up your bios is a must though if you chose to update your bios.

actually, i am really just asking this question in regards to the below thread becuase it was not getting a lot of hits. she can't back up the bios b/c the monitor is not there. i did not want to explain it to her, as i don't have the experience, but i wanted to help her out. so, i guess pointing you to the thread would be better than being vague: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=81615

thanks guys

Sounds like she fried her bios, she needs to contact Sony. Sorry.

IF there is a jumper, that's the preferred way to reset the bios to defaults but this will NOT fix a bad flash.
