18" LCD monitor recommendations/advise
While considering a monitor as the ideal Christmas present for my wife, [she does not like RAM upgrades!!!] I came across a LCD Mitsubishi 18" monitor at Best Buy [not sure of model #] that features a conventional VGA input as well as a DVI input for reasonable price [$700 + tax] ... The 64MB video card [ATI 7200] on the computer where new monitor being used does not have the DVI port but an ATI 7500 with both analog and digital output could easily be very easily swapped from another computer [also 64MB] .
I would like to get this monitor for my wife as a Christmas present ... but she is happy now with a 19" Viewsonic GS790 [short neck] ... tis could be used to replace daughter's Sony 15" monitor which would then become mine as monitor B ... Should I get the Mistubishi monitor? ![]() edit: oops, the store is Best Buy ...

I wouldnt get that one if ti is 700 plus tax..check oiut this one
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...alog=20&depa=1 I have done some research and it is a really good monitor, and it is only about 655 when shipped (with the 10 instant rebate). Just do a search in NewEgg for 19" flat panels by either Samsung or Viewsonic, I would say those to companies are leading in the Price/Performance field with TFTs. I would seriously counsider that Samsung 191T though. Or the 192 that newegg also has. |

If the Mitsubishi looks good to you, and hopefully it will to your wife, then get it. But follow icallmedan's advice and get it from newegg. To my eyes the Samsungs have the best picture.

Archie is in Canada, that's a very nice price if it's in Canadian dollars.
Newegg does not ship to Canada, and there is a BIG plus to buying LCD monitors from Best Buy - if it has ANY dead pixels you can return it. Mail order one and you are stuck with it if it has less than EIGHT dead pixels. |

I had noticed much more models from Viewsonic and Samsung when looking at online stores in Canada. There are also a lot of NEC and LG. It was the first time yesterday I even became aware that Mistubishi had any LCDs. I could not get a good sense of what the pic was like though because the picture shows on all the monitors was soft. As for buying it online, I do prefer getting it at a store. BTW, the Samsung SyncMaster 191T 19" sells for $815.

Yeah, I noticed it after I posted that NEC and Mitsubishi are married somehow ... hope that's not a bad thing. I ended up getting the monitor this morning ... Mitsubishi model #NX85.
