Welcome to PCMech, breck!

Has the new drive been partitioned and formatted?

Welcome to the 'Mech Breck
Are you positive there is no Format option?
Have you tried the Manufacturer's drive partitoning/format utilities?

I think i know what your doing, dont click there.....click under where it says "Volume" its at the top by where it shows the info for your HDD's click Right click the drive letter up there. Not at the bottom.

How about clicking the Drive letter (the one by "volume") then go to "action" then "all tasks" and it should say format.

I'm assuming the CD Rom is 'D' and you'd like to change it so that the HDD is 'D', correct? If so, Temporarily disconnect the CD Rom drive, and then boot the comp. Go to Administrative Tools in the Control panel, then click drive management. There is then an option to change the drive letter....

Yes you should disconnect the CDRW.After everything is done, it should look something like this:

A-Floppy
C-Master Drive
D - Slave Drive (After you change the letter)
E-CD Rom (It will Auto Recognize and assign the Letter)
F- CDRW (Will Auto Recognize and assign the Letter)
