I have a Plextor SCSI PlexWriter 40/12/40A that is almost a year old.
I haven't had any problems with it until recently. I began noticing, whenever I loaded one of my own formatted data disks, an error message that reads: "the requested files could not be read from the CD in drive (X). it is recommended to copy any critical files on CD to a new CD". The drive has no problem reading any of my purchased CD's that contain my appllications/utilities etc. The problem is isolated to those CD's that I formatted myself and stored data onto. What's strange is I've been formatting these CD's for almost a year, storing data/files and never had a problem. Now suddenly they all seem to have a problem. Today, when I attempted to format a new CD, I got an error message that reads "illegal request. Drive reported an error with a command it received. please reboot the computer." So now I can't even format a CD. I checked my SCSI connections and there's no problem with the contoller because I have a couple SCSI HDD's and they're working properly. And as I mentioned above, the Plextor CD RW Drive will read any of my purchased CD's. I also reinstalled my CD (Roxio) software. Why is it all of a sudden refusing to format a CD and/or read any CD that I have previously formatted and used? Help will be greatly appreciated. John G. |
