I've never had a floppy drive fail on me, so I'm not really sure what the symptoms are.
The floppy drive I'm using always gives me a "disk write protection" error whenever I try to write something to the floppy. It sometimes has problems reading the disks, as well. The floppies I've tried are fine; they work in other drives with no problems.

I have some loose drives in my stash of parts I can choose from to replace it.
Btw, the drive isn't using LEDs to determine write-protection. It uses plastic pins and one of them broke off so it can't be pressed down to enable writing data to the disk. ![]() Thanks guys
