compac laptop 1214 cooling fan

The fan does not come on in my laptop. I have replaced the fan. Any ideas????

welcome to pcmech

you did replace it with the correct one I am sure.
the fan is controled by a electronic sensor and is set by the tempture, there may be a setting in the bios to controlewhen it comes on and off,
also look in the control panel for power management to see if it might be turned off, may be under a power saving setting,

if non of this helps, maybe a call to a service center may help

Try Baileys ideas forst but it could take about a half hour to spin up, ive noticed though that when starting up the laptop the fan usually kicks in on most laptops then shuts back down after you get into windows, then after the temp is reached it will start up again.
