Media Center Laptop

Ahoy hoy,

I'm in the market for a new laptop (yes I kinda have to buy within the next couple weeks). I'm going to college in a about a year and a half so I was thinking of getting a media center laptop so I wouldn't have to buy a TV and TiVo etc.

The machine I'm looking at right now is the Toshiba P15-S479 from Best Buy which currently has it for $1750 after rebates. Here are the specs of the machine (as copied from best buys site [http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....7&type=product]:

-Intel® Pentium® 4 processor 2.8GHz, with Hyper-Threading (HT) Technology and 800MHz system bus
-512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM, expandable to 2.0GB
-DVD-RW/CD-RW drive
-15.4" widescreen XGA active-matrix display
-60.0GB 5400RPM hard drive
-External TV tuner and Media Center remote included
-nVidia GeForce FX Go 5200 graphics controller, with 64MB DDR video memory; One-Touch TV-out (S-video)
-Integrated 5.0GHz and 2.4GHz dual-band, high-speed wireless LAN (802.11a-, 802.11b- and draft 802.11g-compliant)
-Integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet networking card; V.92 high-speed data/fax modem
-i.LINK (IEEE 1394) interface and 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports; Secure Digital memory card slot
-Weighs about 8 lbs./1.7" thin for easy portability; high-capacity 12-cell LiIon battery
-Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system preinstalled

Two big questions:

1. Has anyone used Media Center Edition? What do you guys think of it? From what I played with at Best Buy I was pretty impressed.

2. What do you think of the machine itself? PC World gave Toshiba good marks for reliability and I know someone who has had a Toshiba laptop for over 5 years and it still runs like the day she got it.

Oh and one more thing. I'm going out tomorrow morning at about 9 pacific time to buy it so it's one of those "speak now or forever hold your peace" situations heehee.

Thanks for your help everyone!

1. Windows Media Center has everything Xp Pro has plus more. Its very good for video and pics and stuff like that.
2. Toshiba laptops are good from what I hear.
