Instant music feature for Asus p4p800 mother board

I recently visited the Asus site and was reading up on a couple things since I have an Asus p4p800 motherboard. I skimmed over this part about "instant music" The site said that if you turn on the instant music feature in the bios you can play music through your computer WITHOUT TURNING IT ON! Now i tried this and i couldn't get it to work. For one thing when the computers off you can open the CD drive. Did i read something wrong?

Thanks for the help,
Chase B.

The way I understand it the music plays while it is booting up. I havn't actually tried it yet so I could be wrong.

I've not used it myself, but manual says it plays while off as long as you're plugged in and have stand-by power. It says if there is no CD in tray, pressing F1 or Space ejects the tray. It also says it won't work if you're using an add-on sound card.

If you're plugged in to an outlet and your psu is not switched off completely, then you have stand-by power. Basically, if by pressing the button on the front of your comp would turn it on, then you have stand-by power.

The VIA KT600 Asus board also has this feature, but I did not enable it. There is a BIOS setting for it.

The 'how to' is on page 5-14 in my Deluxe manual. It's lengthy, so you'll need to read your manual and follow the instructions closely.

Here's the link to Asus AMD boards with this feature

So much for following instructions! I just enabled mine, verified the analog cable is connected to the CD1 connector, put a CD in the drive and powered down. Scroll lock is supposed to be on all the time - WRONG! Pressed ESC to turn on the cd - NOTHING. Guess I'll stick to power on music until somebody comes up with a fix.
