Talking which raid setup?

I'm setting up a raid array on this motherboard:http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...5PE_Neo2-FIS2R
I can use the Intel Raid controller or the Promise. It's going to be a raid 0 with two WD Raptors. The Promise has the option of Raid 1+0 but I don't need it.Which one is more reliable?I'm using win2kpro,3gig 800 P4,1gig KingstonHyperX,Radeon9700 Pro.Need some input from you guys. Thanks

Raid 0 will have a better performance boost

well both raid controllers are good, and as jimmy says raid 0 will boost performance, both controllers will suite your needs, so you may want to check reviews of both controllers.

I would consider the RAID 0+1. Even though you currently intend not to use it, you might want to in the future as I am sure you are aware, there is NO redundancy with RAID 0, one drive goes down and you're screwed.

To use raid 1+0 it looks as though I'll have to use two SATA drives and two IDE drives.I'd like to know if I can use the other two SATA connectors if I use the Promise controller in a raid. This is a little confusing.I wouldn't be able to use four Raptors. Two are expensive enough.I'm using a 460 watt Enermax ps so I have the power. It's going to take a little time to figure this out.

This is the approach I took.
I have 2 raptors set up in raid0 and are the primary boot drives.
I took my old hard drive and have it installed with a XP on it and program files.
If in the event of Raid 0 failure,I can change the boot order and boot from my old drive, but in the meanwhile I can use it for storage, etc.
You could also set up a dual boot system, have a IDE hard drive installed withan OS on it,install XP to the RAID array and XP will give you the option of which OS to boot from when all is installed, etc.
It's true if 1 drive failsin RAID 0,neither will work,as it's read as 1 drive, but the same is true if you had only 1 drive.
