Transparent Cases

Hello:

I was wondering about transparent cases (acrylic or otherwise). Are these cases as good as your standard aluminum or steel case or are they of a lesser quality. If there are some good cases available could you please let me know.

Any information either good or bad is appreciated, better to know now that have to return a product.

1 it seems to me the strength of the materials determins the srtength of the case, therefor an acrilic or plexi case schould be less strong, but i think it schould still be strong enough, if not they would not be sold.
2 there is a signifant amount of couling included in a metal case (metal guides heat) you'd think it wouldn't be mutch, but i built a wooden pc case and with a 400 mhrz celeron i still had to puting a extra fan. i know nothing of the poperty's of acril, but that's oone of the things i would look into.
3 on the other hand transparant cases are cool

Hello:

thanks for the info corosus...from what you have stated an acrylic case would be ok, but may need aditional cooling vs a standard metallic case.

Do you know of any US vendors by chance? I've checked new egg and a few cases came up, but not many.

I"m wondering if this would have to be a custome job.

Thanks,

-klutz

Acrylics are quite strong but not as strong as metal cases. Check here for shops that sell them.

You can even laser-engrave text and logos on the acrylic case. I'm making an acrylic window for my rig. The company I work for makes plaques and awards. I'll have the production dept. engrave something

However, acrylic cases gets scratched. It takes quite a force to scratch them. But I don't know if it can be fixed if they do get scratched. On the other hand, we can easily re-paint metal cases.

Hello:

I was wondering about this MGE case at New Egg. These are the only ones offered at new egg that I could find.

I was also wondereing about a see through psu of good quality.

My other considerations for cases are Antec Lanboy or an Antec Super Lanboy

These are my two choices. Why?...well I either want see through or nice mobile, gameing desktop which the lanboy would provide.

thanks,

-Klutz

I'd get the normal Lanboy. It's just personal preference but both Antecs are good.

The MGE link doesn't work for me.

Hello:

Thanks for the input. I have decided agains the acrylic windows because they are harder to repair after being scratched, which for me would problably happen many times, because I'd be takeing it to lan parties and such.

Thanks for the help,

Klutz
