Power Supply Fit in Case?

How do I know my power supply will fit in my case?
Can I buy just a case without a power supply?
How do I know it will fit? Even if it fits in my case, How will I know the power plug will go into the right spot?

If the power supply is atx, it will fit in the case, as long as the case is atx too. Also what do you mean by power plug?

Yes, you can buy a case without a PSU and be assured that the PSU will fit into the case. I believe even the attaching screw pattern is standard.

As far as I've ever seen, an ATX PS will fit any ATX case, an AT PS will fit any AT case, etc. I always buy the case and power supply seperately, that way I can control the quality of the PS, an important consideration.

ANY standard AT OR ATX power supply will fit into ANY standard AT or ATX case. The only exceptions are for some of the micro ATX or AT cases where they have a propritary design power supply.

atx is a set of standards that must be met to qualify to be able to call it a atx case.
if a manufacture makes any changes to these standards, it is no longer a atx case.
it is instead called a proprarty case, not a xtx, because it no longer meets the standard.
