Network printer problem
I am having trouble sharing my printer so here is the problem if anyone could help. I am trying to share a printer with two computers. The main computer which the printer is attached to is running Windows XP Home and the other computer is running Windows ME. I set up the network to share files and I am able to share file here is how I set up to share files. In Windows XP I ran the Network Wizard and made a setup disk using a floppy and then I ran the setup on the computer running Windows ME with the floppy disk and I was able to share files, but I cannot share the printer. By the way my printer connects to the Windows XP Computer with a USB Port. Is there a guide that will show me how to share the printer? I just installed the printer on my windows xp machine and I tried to set it up on the second computer this is what I did on the windows me machine. I went to start >>control panel>> add new printer>>then selected network printer then where it says network path I click browse and I can not see my printer, and that is where I am I cant see my printer any thought on what I might be doing wrong?

Did you set up sharing for the printer? Start > Printers and faxes > select printer > select Properties and select sharing tab.
You may need to install the printer on the ME PC if it doesn't see if after you set up sharing. The ME PC will need to point to the name that you gave it on the XP PC. Chas

What is the exact printer model? There are some Lexmarks that cannot be shared and networked, for example. If it's networkable, you simply need to share it as Chas indicates, then it should be seen in My Network Places on the ME box, right click, Install (or Connect, whatever is available). Have the driver disk ready if ME asks for it.

The printer is a Dell All in one printer A920. Other thing when windows me computer asks for the driver disk for the printer I get an error message that says. There is no valid inf files on this operating system. Any idea how to fix that and what is inf?
