calculating processor speed

I read that the prossecor speed is the BUS speed times the multiplier, (how much faster the CPU is to the BUS). But that gives you the same speed as the original CPU speed.
for example:
i have a CPU speed of 800MHz
A BUS speed of 200MHz
That gives me a multiplier of 4
4x200= 800
Am i missing something here or am I totaly wrong?

So that whole calculating the processor speed with multiplier and BUS speed is pointless?

Are you sure that 200 is not the front side bus speed? Im guessing you have an AMD Duron and it has a 100Mhz bus speed with a multiplier of 8. The bus speed is probably running twice as fast and thats how you got 200. Just correct me if im wrong im not really sure on what processor you have.

Oh ok then ya thats how you find out the speed. Its not pointless if you are an overclocker cuz then you would probably like to know those specs.

oh... i get it now(i think), stupid me. You do it to find out the multiplier, not the processor speed. And would making the multiplier higher increasse the CPU speed?

Yes and raising the front side bus speed would affect all of the hardware in your system.
