Whats a good budget G card ?

Ive got a g force 4mx 420 and i use it for games and music.
I could do with a dual display g card thats good for games and would be ok for my music.
Under £100 would be good, ive heard bad things about the geforce fx 5200 i think its called.
Anyway could you tell me what card would be ok for that price please guys ? and i dont over clock my system or my card, so i just want it to run games ok.
I dont want to go out buy a card and find out you guys hate it.
Thanks Techno

Send a message via ICQ to CrazyMike
The GeForce FX 5200 does have bigger numbers then the older 420 MX. Like having 128 Mb of Video Memory and a larger memory bandwidth.

when you see that the fx 5200 cards get slammed it is because in general most people are expecting too much from it....It was not made in mind with the Half Life 2 crowd in mind... It is a budget card...a pretty decent one at that... it is like having a G-Force MX card when the Ti's First came out... it got slammed for poor performance... in comparison onlt.... I still run a GeForce 4 MX card and have no problems with any of the decent games I play... the FX is not a Hardcore Gaming" card by any means.... but for the money, it is a good performer.
If your budget is around $100 I would personally look for a good deal on a geforce 4 Ti 4200 or some such... New Egg has alot of nice refurbs weekly for a good deal...

Ive bought a couple decent cards at Amamax and never had a problem...

G cards

Thanks for the replies :-) i might take a look at the 4 Ti 4200 and see what price i can get it for :-)
Then my old g force card can go back in my old system and i can give it to my daughter.
Then my new athlon 2.6 can go to my son when i build an intel 2.6 with the deluxe mobo.
Then when i build my intel system i think i will spend a bit and get a pro card with some decent memory and all the new goodies that will of come out :-)
Thanks again guys Techno

Just about any ATI card that is in the same price range will out perform the GForce model.
