Problem installing AsusA7V8X-MX AMD Mobo and X-Dreamer PS

So, a friend of mine helped me put together parts of my new computer yesterday. He knows tons about this, and it was working fine then.

When I brought everything home, I tried to put it together, but nothing happened. The Mobo (AMD AsusA7V8X-MX), whenever connected with the PS, would only have its LED light up next to the prong thing for the Power On (Next to reset, HD LED connections). I fiddled a little with the power cord going into the mobo, and occasionally, the CPU fan would start going for maybe ½ a second, but if I moved it a little, then it would stop, and maybe the PS would start whirring.

I have no idea what to do. I won't be able to get a hold of my friend for a day or two. Someone please help!

Note: Just before he left, I called him and told him the problem. He said something about shorting out the connections on the mobo, and that I should start from the beginning connecting one thing at a time. I did that (only the mobo and the PS and the monitor are connected) and it does the same thing.
