Hi,
This is my maiden attempt at putting together a PC. I have a Raidmax case with a ATX 350 W power supply.I hooked up everything right but when I plug in the power supply, the power supply fan runs for a couple of seconds and then stops, so does the cpu fan. I can't figure out why this is happening. There is of course no response to the case power switch. If there was nothing happening at all, I would assume that the power supply is bad, but the fans run for a few seconds , implying that there is some current going through initially , which stops fro some reason. Any ideas, pointers will be appreciated. |

What motherboard are you using? Some boards (MSI is one) will do what you are describing whe the intial power is applied. If the power button is not responding to turn on the computer then check your connection on the board for the switch.
You would do well to replace the OEM raidmax PSU as soon as possible with a Sparkle, Fortron, or Enermax. |

I have checked the software power switch connection to the motherboard. It is correct according to the motherboard documentation.
I am using a ASUS P4S533-MX motherboard |

Pull the power switch connector off the two power pins and then use a small bladed screwdriver to jump the two pins. If your computer starts up, the power button is defective.
If the computer still doesn't respond, follow the troubleshooting steps here. Post your system specs too. Cricket

I had a Raidmax case that did the same. After you plug it in and turn on the PSU it runs a few seconds and shuts off. Push the Power button and see if it starts and stays running.
Second problem I had like that was a bad CMOS Battery. Test the battery. If it is below 3 Volts, replace it. |
