+ 60 c on two cpu's. smoething must be wrong?
I just built my first pc, having two MP processors (amd athlon mp 2400+)
Problem is teh core temperatures is passing 60 celsius. Both have a monster of a fan/heatsink The cabinet also got 4 fans for airflow, but still my core's at anything between 60 and 65 +Celsius. Now I got no clue on cooling, but this cant possible be good can it? Any tips?

Are you sure both heatsinks are installed properly? The recessed part of the heatsinks should be over the raised part of the socket.
Is the computer running stable? What motherboard are you using? If the BIOS is getting the temp info from within the CPU core instead of the CPU surface, then those temps might be perfectly normal. Cricket

are you getting the temp readings from the BIOS or a program? sometimes the programs will not be right.

If you don't have a psu that'll handle the load it will run hot like that. What do you have as far as case fans and thermal paste?

Does your board actually read the core temp from the CPUs internal circuits? If it does then this is not a bad temp and there is no reason to worry about it.
Most of the discussions you see about temps involve readings taken from an RTD which is actually a part of the motherboard and located below the CPU inside the socket. So when someone mentions 60 degrees C on this setup, it is not the core temp, but an external temp. |

How do you know which way your motherboard reads? For example, I have the MSI 865PE Neo2-FISTR and it came with the Core Center program that monitors temps and fan speeds. How do I know which way my board reads?
Thanks. |
