Question

I am in the process of installing my new Gigabyte GA-7DXC.
The only question that has arisin so far is what to set the CPU speed at with the DIP switch. I know this decision is up to me, but I don't know too much about this part of the configuration.

CPU PCI AGP
133 33.3 66.6
115 38.3 76.67
110 36.67 73.33
105 35 70
103 34.33 68.67
100.9 33.66 67.335
100.7 33.57 67.13
95 31.67 63.33

This is the only DIP switch on the board. I have 256mb of DDR RAM PC 1600 and a 1.1ghz AMD Athlon T-bird processor. which of the above settings should I pick? I am a gamer and a MP3 burner mostly. I don't know if what I use the computer for matters or not on these settings.

Thanks in advance!

Toby

Is that a 100 or 133 bus processor? If it's a 100, start with the 100.7 settings and go from there.

glc Woops! Click on the motherboard in the upper left hand corner. The GA-7DXC. That will get you there.

First,is your cpu unlocked(L1 bridges closed)?
I'm assuming that the cpu runs on a 100mhz bus speed and is not the newer AMD cpus that run on a 133mhz fsb.
If the cpu is unlocked, when you set it to 133 it will be overclocked.
Whether the cpu will run that high is questionable.
It's adviseable to start at the 100mhz speed, just to test stability.
If the system checks out, increase the fsb to the next setting, etc.or until errors or failure to boot arises.
This can be overcome by increasing the voltage to the cpu.
