160 GB hd & slow startup.
i want to say first what i mean by slow startup, the computer comes on fine.. but for some reason i have to wait about 50 seconds just for the computer screen to restart ( flicks to black quickly and then comes back on ) if i try to open something like paint or 3dmark within the first minute it just wont open, after the screen flicker i can open anything.
About my HD.. it is supposed to be 160GB but in windows its saying i only have 127GB of space??? i formatted it correctly, i tried partition magic but it thinks its all there.. if anyone knows whats going on id appreciate the help. |

What version of Windows, please? Are you using an 80 wire Ultra ATA cable and Cable Select jumpering on the drive? What brand and model hard drive?

You need Service Pack 1 for XP to enable drives larger than 137gb. The BIOS also needs to see the full capacity, there's a 137gb barrier there too.
