System hung for improper cpu speed... how do i set it up right

You can't use a 800 FSB processor in that motherboard, that's a 533 FSB board.

Clear the CMOS. Unplug the computer from the wall outlet and remove the motherboard battery for half an hour. Replace the battery, plug the computer back in and fire her up.

i was told it will just run at 500 fsb

You can put a 533 CPU into a 800 mobo, but not a 800 CPU into a 533 mobo.

There are a few 533Mhz boards (P4PE with bios flash) that will work with a 800Mhz cpu but I don't believe this is one of them.

It's not - only 400 and 533 FSB processors are supported. You need to exchange either the processor or the motherboard and ram. Whoever told you it would work is mistaken.
