Acrylic cases...

Well i have been spending a lot of time looking around acrylic cases and i have to say they are pretty cool and original looking. Especially if you get the UV reactive ones. I was wondering if any of you have one, and if the lack of shielding was a huge problem. What are your thoughts, are acrylic cases worth it? from what i have seen they cost less than aluminum.

I saw on in a local computer shop last week. It had to be, in my opinion, one of the ugliest cases I have ever laid eyes on. This is just my opinion.

I agree, dont go with arcrylic, they look good in pics but they arent as good in real life.

Also theres no way yo hide any wires so you can see all the things you would hide with a regular case, but what ever you want its sitting on your desk not mine.

I would go with a case that has a side window not all arcrylic.

Shielding is not supposed to be a problem. As with window cases, the main problem will be watching the dust collect all over the inside. THe other thing is that acrylic scratches really easy and it stands out. Even dust moving in air can scratch acrylic plastic.

Yeah, a nice looking case, and its probably excellent quality. But I can't see paying $150 for that case, plus another $35+ on a PSU.

The only good mod I've seen with an acrylic case was the orac3 mod. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthrea...0&pagenumber=1

(It'll take a little while to load on dial-up)

Scratches on acrylics can be a pain. But it's quite durable depending on what type of acylic you use. Cast acrylics can take some beating (of course if you jab it with a screw driver, it will scratch).

But I'd have to agree, it's better to get a window rather than the whole case IMHO. It just comes down to personal preference.

FF, that is more than good. I wonder how much the thing cost total, with all that chrome, wow. It looks awesome.

If I had the time and the cash to do something like that, I think I would start getting into modding . I like the chroming more than anything else. To tell the truth, putting the green acrylic in front of the chromed DVD drives was a crime.
