Cool A7n8x-vm/400

i am building a system with a 2500+ processor, (would like to overclock it to a 400fsb/ 3200+xp). It is also going to be in a microATX case.

if i got the Asus A7N8X-VM/400 , would i be able to run my cpu at 400fsb, or does the 400 simply mean the ram can run at 400mhz fsb?

Also, what are the differences between the via and nvidia chipsets?

is there a mATX via motherboard that can run at 400fsB?

and does anyone know of a detailed review of the A7n8x-vm/400?

1. Yes, the cpu can run at 400fsb ; many have done that. Just make sure the RAM can handle it
2. Nvidia is the way to go for now unless if you're getting an Athlon 64, in which the kt800 is better as of now for the 64. It offers less hassle with the drivers and for overclocking it automatically locks the Pci, AGP, and IDE buses so they won't burn up or anything.
3. Via motherboards can run at 400fsb, but the one you chose is perfectly fine. It's made by Asus after all
4. I haven't found any.

thanks for the confirmation!
i presume the difference between this and the 'normal' A7n8x-vm is just the 400fsb, and that the A7n8x-vm cannot run at 400fsb?

The regular one can with a bios flash but not with assured stability.

i read this today in a review about the A7N8X-VM..

No Overclocking

If you like to overclock, this board is not for you. It uses American Megatrends (weird) and has no voltage/frequency/memory timing control. In other words there are absolutely no overclocking options in the BIOS.

eek. is this true for the A7N8X-VM/400 ?! i had assumed all good branded motherboards allowed you to change the fsb etc (that is what this is saying right?^).. i presume this would stop me from being able to overclock the 2500+ to a 3200+ ??

or does it mean i can change the fsb aslong as i have memory at the same speed, and dont need to change the voltage of the cpu?? (which should be ok if so?)

(if the A7N8X-VM/400 cannot support overclocking the 2500... can anyone suggest a motherboard which is microATX, supports overclocking a 2500+ to a 3200+ (400 fsb) and is generally good otherwise?)
