Laptop Displays

I am considering purchasing an Alienware laptop, and I am wondering about a few things. They come by default with a WideSXGA 1680x1050 display, are widescreen displays any good? I will be using the laptop for a bit of gaming, but mainly graphics, web design and powerpoint displays. Would I be better going for the dearer 1600x1200 display?

I am also tempted by another one of their laptops, the sentia, are the Intel Pentium M Centrino chips any good? In particular the 1.4Ghz version? What would it compete with in terms of desktop processors? I am mainly going to be using the laptop for desktop applications and like to be able to move in and out of applications quickly.

Or, are there any other laptops that you would recommend?

The Centrino chip is faster than almost any other chip that Intel produces and is an itegrated chip.
