HP DeskJet 3520

anybody know if this printer deskjet 3520 USB is known for causing problems if uninstalled. does it leave stuff in registry which needs to be purged?

many instances of printer said to be installed. so if not virus or worse and i delete out all the printers and reinstall will i have problems with THIS particular model?

Removing a USB device on XP should be no problem. Just unplug it from the computer and then delete all the printers in the printer folder. Shutdown and restart the computer, plug the printer back in and turn it on. If you are lucky, XP will automatically find and install the drivers for the printer from it's builtin driver library. If it does not find it, do not do and add printer or detect hardware. Instead shut down the computer and unplug/turn off the printer. Next load the USB drivers from the disk. Turn off the computer. Plug in the printer and turn it on. Start the computer and it will find the printer and load the drivers you just installed. Finish loading the rest of the software.
This is the correct way to install a printer;

Parallel Printers> Plug in and turn on the printer, Turn on the computer. Load the Drivers and Software.

USB printers> Turn on the Computer. Load the USB Printer Drivers. Turn off the computer, plug in the printer and turn it on. Turn on the computer and let it find the drivers. Load the rest of the software

well i thought everything had gone well at the customer's home when i uninstalled this printer and reinstalled it. now she has called saying it won't always print and that the printer icon in the tray flashes off and on. also the utility that monitors the ink levels show that there is no ink at all. they are almost new cartridges. what could be going on here?
