does the dvd media make a diff?

im looking at the blank dvd being sold at this site.

http://www.yesbuy.net/4xdvdr47gb.html

i need to know what the difference is between the generic and the 2 brands. And if those are good prices, thanks in advance.

and also should i buy dvd -R media, or dvd +r. My burner uses both, which do i need to use to back up dvd movies?

I belive it depends on the DVD burner itself if it will record on cheap media or not. I have used Ritek on my Memorex and it worked fine. I also bought some cheap brand called GQ at Fry's and it was hit and miss. I DVD-R for movies to play on my set top DVD player.

You should be able to find a list of tested/recommended media on your drive manufacturer's website. Also, www.dvdrhelp.com lists tons of user reviews for specific media brands.
