OC'ing CPU voltage?
ok I'm going to OC my CPU in sig. Now I've looked around the internet and I can't find a place that give me the maximum voltage for this CPU. Its a xp2600+ T-bred 333fsb. I have it at 1.7v right now and I need to know the max I can set it to.
EDIT: I forgot to add.. default is 1.65v I beleive. Thanks. Last edited by Jeradln82; 02-18-2004 at 02:26 AM. |

+10% max. is the general rule of thumb, I believe.

As low as you can be stable at that oc.

its not voltage you have to worry about, its heat thats the main factor. you can put as much voltage as you need through your CPU as long as it stays cool enough. by cool, im talking about 55C max at full load. i have gone all the way to 2.0V on air no problem.

If you go with Oddjobs rule, then you can go up to 1.82 Volts but as Tin Canary & Blackhart were saying, as long as the system is stable, and cool enough, and the voltage isn't a too high. Then give a little higher a try.

leave it at stock to start off with and see how far you can go from that, this basically determines the overall potential of the chip, if it can go quite far on stock voltage, this usually means it will be a very good clocker and you can push it hard, which is nice!
