hi folks
am i correct in thinking that once i have built and configured the new board i will be able to plug in my old hard drive, cd writer etc. if so, will the OS work (xp) or will there be other things I have to do to get it all running sweet. Hass |

If you are talking about swapping motherboards, I believe so, but if you wait a couple of days I will tell you for sure. I have a PC with XP and I'm going to swap out the mobo and keep HD, CD and everything else. Hopefully the new board will be delivered today.

WinXP might be able to pick up all the new parts on it's own and work fine right from the start. But if you do encounter a problem, you can do a repair of the existing installation from the WinXP CD.

Which I don't have, system was built for me by a friend and the os software wasn't in the package, if it messes up I'm going back to win 98se, it was more photographer friendly, I actually dislike this os. H

In that case, if you want to return to 98, you will need to do a format of your system, and install 98.

I then went to install SP1 and the wheels came off. Wound up formatting and doing a clean install. Chas |
