laptop processors

I am seriously looking at laptops for college. I have seen mobile pentium 4 from 2-3ghz, and centrinos from 1.4 - 1.7 ghz. All i know about centrinos is that they supposedly give longer battery life. Is it true a centrino 1.4 will outperform a 2.6ghz MPentium 4? If so it seems a no brainer to get the centrino, I will be on a wireless network at home. Is there anything else i should know about centrinos?

Yes, the centrinos will do more in one clock cycle than a pentium 4 will do. I'm not sure if it compares to a 2.6 p4 but it the pentium m is a real performer. I recommend it over a p4 m any day. Also you are right about the long battery life, they last a lot longer with centrino.

centrinos have more cache, which, similarly to AMDs bartons, bumps up the Mhz equivalent rating of the chip
