ahh the sound of a beginner. I remember only about a month or two ago when i was starting out. All i can tell you is don't get to excited and try to do everything really fast. Also listen to people like cricket, hal9000, FLG, panamared, and there are many others, because they know their stuff and always give sound advice. Also take into consideration that you'll probably want to upgrade so buy components with that in mind. Anyway sorry there is no technical advice in there but in my signature you can see my specs and i built that for under 750 so as cricket said you can build a VERY NICE system for 1,100. Have fun and learn a lot becuase i know i did.

wow...
not needing a monitor is a big pricecut, therefore you would be able to build a REALLY nice computer I built mine for about $1,300 (w/o the monitor) |

I built the one listed below for a little less than $1,100 last December, seems everything has gone down in price
since then ,especially DVD burners. Like you I had a monitor, but got a new keyboard, mouse.

like Cricket said its important what you r using the computer 4. if you r going to be doing tons af gamin video editing downloading alot of movies ect. 1,100 mite not b enough (of course i may be rong about this as i am no expert) but if you want to be doing mostly stuff like word prossecing and internet browsing and stuff like that which doesnt need very much memory, very good graphics and it doesnt need to be very fast, then 1,100 will be plenty.

The nice thing with computer built by yourself is that you get exactly what you want. The biggest advantage is probably the case, and if you like to be ostentacious (I'm saying this in a general way, please don't take it provacativrly) with your build, this is a great way to do so.
Also, it is very easy to get things very inexpensive - when things go on sale, that is an oppotunity to sieze . Your build might be as nice as what you may get out of a 1700 USD Dell if you buy your components at the right time. These people here at PCmech make building fun and a learning experience. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks PCMech. Thanks PCMech for all you've given me so far .Hope that helps, kram

I just recently built a PC for a co-worker for around that price range. It's a very nice system. Check out this link for the parts that I used. It took me 1 hr. to assemble the parts and install the OS, drivers, and AV.

So if you had to recommend a computer to buy from a company what owuld you recommend if anythign ? Or do you think I can make a comp myself? |
